A little about myself - Nikola Nolden

I am an Artist/Illustrator who mainly paints and draws artwork commissions in various mediums, from photos. I also give a percentage of my artwork sales back to my chosen charities. 

The majority of my work is portraiture (pets, people, landscapes etc.), but I am fairly flexible and love new challenges!

I pride myself in creating good quality, original non - digital artwork pieces. Painting and drawing is my passion. It gives me incredible fulfilment and so does helping others. My mission as an Artist is to improve the welfare of others by giving back to the disadvantaged through my artwork. I aspire to be part of a journey that creates a better world by making it a happier more colourful place to be!

 Although I worked at a publishers and have an illustrative background, with a knowledge of various techniques used to produce artwork for illustrative purposes, I have interests in other areas too. I am always open to new ideas and techniques giving inspiration to my work. My main area of work at the moment is portraiture (including animals) and also landscapes. I have been particularly enjoying working in pencil and oils at the moment, which has always been my preferred choice of medium. Aside from my commissioned work I also still get involved in other illustrative projects from time to time. 

Unfortunately, in 2017, I had a Melanoma diagnosis in my foot. It was whilst recovering from surgery, I had the idea of connecting with charities to give something back through my artwork. I was inspired by the charity ReSurge Africa

I couldn't imagine what turn my life would have taken if healthcare services were not in place and wanted to help. I contacted it's chairman, Mr Odhran Shelley, a consultant at the St.Andrews Centre, Chelmsford, and he very kindly helps me to connect with this charity.   

I think it's important to share knowledge around the world, especially when it comes to health, it benefits everyone. You never know when you might need it.

I am well at the moment and have extended my gratitude to the NHS by donating artwork and cards in the shops at Broomfield Hospital where I have a small selection of cards for sale. I hope to donate prints in the near future.    

It means a lot to me to be able to do this and a huge thank you to those people who have helped support me so far, you will know who you are!
